Cannot be right... although I like mahjong-ing but two straight days?? Quite extreme I must say.
Firstly, friday night (whole week couldn't book out. don't ask) was a get-together for the 'old men' who just ORD-ed in June. Was Lim Pin's birthday also. Thank you for treating us Swenson's! Had a great time catching up and listening to Bobo's really, really weird dreams. =x

Mahjong #1
Then it was mahjong - with vince, yt, weilong and jinghang - on saturday, although it was supposed to be a stayover. But in the end we just went for dinner @ Suntec's Ichiban Boshi. I'm sure yt and vince knows how happy I was eating there. I still think the combi-meals are very worth it!
~
Mahjong #2
This time it's at zw's house with - who else? - fungi and serkun.
Then met up with zhiwen for dinner-cum-movie @ Lot 1 (whoa, changed aaaaaalot). Here's my snap-snap review of Wanted.
I give the film:
It's definitely the kick-ass movie of the year, although the comic (a cult-classic by Mark Miller - a must read!!) is way better. It's very loosely-based but don't worry - with all the 'heck-care' attitude, cool shoot-outs, and Angelina Jolie (plus breakout stay James McAvoy) kicking a lot of ass, what's not to like?
~
Okay, I got to book in soon. Shall review Sky of Love in my next post.
(This post seems so rushed!)
Take care, peeps!

2 Weeks'
Wow, been so busy till I don't have the time to update last week's post. So.. shall start from there: I want to apologize to all Jay Chou fans first - this is really one of the worst movies I've ever watched. Bad acting (Jay himself) and extremely bad and pointless script - this makes Secret look like an Oscar Best Picture. This movie is neither funny nor engaging and is filled with detestable characters. None of them are fully-developed - even Jay Chou's main role is left sketchy, and his relationship with his long-lost parents uninspiring to say the least.
Last Week:
Went to celebrate Father's Day with a few relatives, cousins, @ Wild Wild Wet. Been a long time since I've been there and I'm surprised I still had fun (at my age). Here are some photos of my little cousins:
I got to rent it for free for 30mins. (Yes, szern, you have this) It's freakin' cool! Can even record vids underwater. Thinking of changing camera now, heh heh.
Anybody wants to buy my Nikon 6 Megapixel digi cam (pictured above)?? Still in very good condition. Price extremely negotiable =)
Anyway, celebrated Mum's birthday at Old Airport Road, enjoying crabs and stingray for dinner.
~
Sunday standard: Yt, by and wl came over for mahjong. The end. Haha.
~
Yup, that was all for last week.
This week:
I watched three movies. One really, really bad. One really, really funny. And the last one, surprisingly bad. =x
Firstly, Kung Fu Dunk (功夫灌篮)
I give this film:
What a gigantic waste of talents for this show as well. We all know Jay Chou is incredibly talented but I really don't think he should act. Charlene Choi's role is incredibly useless (their love story is explained in 5 seconds at the end of the show) and oh-my-god, poor Zheng Zhi Wei, for having to endure this movie, considering he's such a respectable veteran (but to his credit, he did a fairly good job with this lousy part he had).
FINAL SAY: I really admire and support Jay Chou as a singer (I buy his albums). He's definitely one of the most talented chaps of our generation (singing, song-writing, directing, and, er, acting) but this is definitely not one of his best efforts. Thank goodness he still produces very good music.
~
The next movie, Get Smart.
~
Coincidentally, me and my army buddy were very excited about the two movies above. So when we finally sat down and watched Kung Fu Dunk in our bunk, we thought we were in for a good time. However, after awhile, er, let's just say I finally get the meaning of.. 看不下去.
Then we were very excited about Get Smart (both of us are fans of Anne Hathaway - who isn't???) long before it was released and boy were we in for a surprise. Don't believe the reviews in the papers. Go watch it. You'll like it!
~
The last movie is You Don't Mess With The Zohan
A crass, tasteless (severe understatement) comedy that is as surprisingly bad as Get Smart is surprisingly good. His brand of sexual vulgarity is actually quite revolting. I am officially not a fan of Adam Sandler's comedies, given that 50 First Dates is the only decent (albeit very mediocre) film he has made. And seriously, what the hell is Mariah Carey doing in this mess? It's shameless to say the least.
FINAL SAY: Get Smart is still the best comedy of the season so far, with Kung Fu Panda being a close-second. You Don't Mess With the Zohan? - Filmcritic.com got it right: "You don't laugh with the Zohan, too, apparently."
~
Yup, Lamerz (me, fungi, sze, sk and zw) had to endure a whole 2-hour of that Zohan-crap at 0140 in the morning till 0300. Goodness, there goes my $10.
Anyway, thanks to zw for getting us these presents from his HK trip. The guys got a wrist-thing of sorts, and the girls got this glowing yupathingy that is actually quite cute (fungi, just accept that robot lah). =p
~
And... I've been itching to buy this album for so long.
Yoga 林宥嘉's <<神秘嘉宾>>.
BUT, i've not bought it yet. 'Cos I want to wait for a 庆功改版, then there'll probably be bonus DVD or MV, which will make the buy more worth-it.
He's a fantastic singer with an attitude and his songs are great. Shall talk more about it in another post with other 超级星光大道-related stuff =p
~
Whoa.. got Basic Theory Test @ SSDC tomorrow. *Keeping fingers crossed* Hope my lessons during Class 3 Military Driving course can still serve me well =x
Take care, peeps!

Dessert Treats
First things first, I've got my Silver for my second-year IPPT! Which means $100! Which means... treating my friends -.- Haha.
Ya, I've spent like 30% of it on treating people - strangely, all on desserts.
Wednesday night met up with jm to go haji lane to get a present. But before that, treated her with MOF dessert.
I've been there 3 or 4 times but i still can't get enough of the desserts (forget about the ala carte, seriously). I don't understand how can a person who's so tam jiak (her mother's words) not know about MOF desserts, but in the end she was impressed. We ordered the green tea ice cream with fried-warm sweet potato (heavenly!!) and she insisted on a strawberry gelato. So yup, $13.30, quite cheap for a sweet treat =)
Haji Lane was disappointing (for her first time there; mine second) but since it was already 9+ pm, it's inevitable that so many shops were closed. But we did see some interesting vintage stuff @ a shop:
The original Ocean's 11 movie poster starring Frank Sinatra!
This could well be Miss Ho Poh Fun's wardrobe (only NJ - and a few RJ - students can understand this).
I wonder if it's still working..
In the end we didn't get the present. Both of us were damn tired, but thank goodness her work starts at 11pm the next day and I have battalion off for thursday and friday. Yay.
~
The next dessert treat would probably be with Fungi, Yeewen and Zhiwei. But before that, we (minus zw) met for dinner at 文东记 @ Bukit Timah. Here's the delectable spread:
Home-made (from L-R) barley, lime, barley.
The sumptuous chicken with our pyramid-shaped rice (i ate 2 plates). Yumm.
Yeewen recommended this fried beancurd with mayo. 外脆内软... sedap!
Okay all this talking about food just gets me hungrier. Later, we met zw for dessert @ Canelé Pâtisserie Chocolaterie (whoa, that was a mouthful). Jm works there and she keeps raving about the desserts so we have to try. My treat again -.-
After which we went to Cine-Max to rent a room and catch a movie (thai horror flick Alone). Standard horror with standard twist. Then we (minus yw) went for a drink at Heeren's The Balcony bar.
~
Caught two movies over the weekend. Here are my reviews. I bet some people are just gonna scroll through =p
IN A FEW WORDS... Prince Caspian is utterly useless in this movie (they should just call it Chronicles of Narnia: Part 2) but overall, it's surprisingly humorous and well-filmed. You'll fall in love with the beautiful landscapes... and that's about it.
~
Next up, Kung Fu Panda
IN A PARAGRAPH... Anything branded with the name Jack Black and you know it's going to be good. Plus Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Lucy Liu, Jackie Chan... needless to say, Kung Fu Panda doesn't disappoint. It's laugh-every-minute good fun - this is probably DreamWorks' best since Shrek (the first one, not the other two mediocres). You'll not regret watching this =)
~
Been watching 超级星光大道 3 recently and I must say I'm hooked! There are two Singaporeans who've made it into the TOP10, namely 黄靖伦 and Sugianto. Share their videos next time. They're making us proud, woohoo!
Take care, peeps!

LOL
Firstly, would like to wish my beloved maid, Reylene jie-jie (as we affectionately call her) a Happy Birthday!
Yup, her birthday's close to mine =) That's a Godiva mango-chocolate cake my mom bought. Her fave fruit is mango as it's one of Phillippines' local fruit.
~
Saturday was quite a crazy day man.
Played mahjong @ zw's house with fungi and serkun. Hand was quite good; won some money. Then we decided to go Marina Square to eat Sakae Sushi supper buffet, which only started at 9:30pm (till 12:00am)
(where I met Vivien with her AJ friend, zhimin. Pleasant surprise. Had a feeling she'd be there)
Goodness, I was starving the whole day!
But that still didn't stop us from trying to reach our target of 80 plates between the four of us. After about 40 plates (and our stomachs almost filled to the brim) we decided to play the 'counting game' to randomly decide on which plate of food to eat next on the conveyor belt.
We decided to eat every 15th plate of food (until we hit 80), regardless what was on it. So of course, you can imagine the grossness when the 15th plate turns out to be two huge sushis stuffed with rice and god-knows-what; and worst - two sushis stuffed with red roe, which really doesn't go down well when you feel like puking because of bloatedness.
Of course, we didn't finish the game, if not we would have puked all over the table. Only zhiwei was interested in playing the game. But I guess to save our lives, it was wiser to stop.
We definitely didn't look this happy after attempting to stuff our faces to reach our 80-plate target.
The bowl of complimentary desert: Strawberry Smiles.
Cold, sour on the outside; sweet, cool creamy on the inside.
After the gut-busting buffet we decided to catch a late-night movie. Walked to The Cathay to check for movies. Wanted to watch Made of Honour. Realised there's a 1:10am show at Cine so we chionged upstairs to The Cathay's 5th floor to check for tix. Only left with one seat -.- next show was at 3:10am. -__-
But nevertheless we walked to Cine and guess what, there was a 2:10am show for What Happens in Vegas! Which, imo, received better reviews than Made of Honour.
While waiting, we were crapping around in Long John's:
We pooled our coins together to get this $1.95 sprite. Yay.
Our $40 tickets.
And fungi and serkun having fun with japanese:
So here's the review of...
I give the film:
FINAL SAY: It's Laugh-Out-Loud from start to finish, although it lost it's steam in the middle towards the end. Cliche but funny - the energy and (literally) explosive chemistry between Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher keeps this flick alive. Sweet, hilarious and sassy: I guess it's quite the perfect date movie.
~
Ending on that high note, I would like to share a breezy, laid-back song by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat. It's called Lucky.
~
Yup, that's all folks.
So sad June no public holiday =( lol
Take care, peeps!
