[ this is post #110. Which means the next post will be the 111th, which means... it'll be my ORD post. *jumps for joy* 7 more days to my pink ic!! ]
It sucks not updating my posts for so long because I was trying to reserve post no.111 for 11th Nov. So get ready for a long post!
But anyway, yes, I've conformed. I've got Facebook.
That was my first status update when I set-up my account last Monday. "Wilson Ng is conforming with Facebook." And yup, that's my "staring into space" (as quoted by Gladys Heng) display pic. I've since changed it. (see widget on sidebar)
Besides the reason that I want to conform (I mean, who doesn't have Facebook nowadays? I get this a lot before), I've learnt that it's a hassle-free way to keep in contact with people you've forgotten (oops). And it's heartening to know that they still remember you!
But OMG. There's TWO Bala Murugans. And to think that he accepted all our photo tags! LOL. Bernard, I think you should ask him about it. Stop stealing friends. Hahaha.
~
Yay, I can FINALLY review movies again! Don't worry, there's only two this time.
Firstly, Tropic Thunder.
Hilarious, No-Holds-Barred Satire
Star-Power:
Is this really what the critics are calling the 'Best Comedy of the Year'? This may very well be. Out of the slew of different comedies that came out this year (the risque Forgetting Sarah Marshall, the spy-spoof and very funny Get Smart, the physical comedy The House Bunny, just to name a few) this movie certainly steals the thunder, pardon the pun.
Firstly, get ready for this, we have mega-stars acting as mega-stars, in a Hollywood movie making a Hollywood movie. Confused yet? Don't be. Simply put, Stiller, Black and Downey Jr are making fun of the very industry that feeds them.
But Hell, did they do it brilliantly.
Suffice to say, they're spoofing the absurd decadence of those impossibly-paid Hollywood mega-actors these days, and throwing in a few blockbusters-worth of spectacular explosions and out-of-this-world movie sets. The effect is very often rewarding, and of course, very funny.
FINAL SAY: Watch out for Tom Cruise's scene-stealing cameo. You won't believe it.
~
Up next, High School Musical 3: Senior Year.
High School Naivete
Star-Power:
Is it really the end of the road for Zac Efron and Co.? Yes for the present cast, but No for the franchaise. Rumours have it that HSM4 is in the works, and it will feature the new actors being introduced in Part 3 - the annoying 'Rocket Man' and the equally annoying British lass who plays Sharpay's assistant.
But let's get back to this movie. I have to declare something first: I like musicals. I count last year's Hairspray and Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge! as two of my favourites. So, for HSM3, a teenage (a word no longer associated with me) musical, I nearly gave it a 3.5-star (don't gasp).
If you saw the movie, I think you will somewhat agree with me. Firstly, the talent of the cast is undeniable. They can sing and dance and still look so fabulous. And their so freakin' young! Secondly, some of the musical numbers (particularly the one where they prepare for prom) nearly worths a weekday ticket price.
But the problem I have? The actors seem too big for their roles. Which I feel is the same problem that will plague the final three Harry Potter movies. And also, there's so little drama!
FINAL SAY: Just too much innocence, that's all. But if you sit-back and enjoy it as a musical, chances are, you'll like it.
~
And.... here's my new phone!
I think I can sell this picture to Nokia as catalogue picture for this phone. Haha, ok jk.
Ok, I know. You have the same question. Why did I get a NON-camera phone even though I'm going to ORD in like 7days?
Ans: Because I already have a good-enough digicam and this phone is affordable AND it's really quite a good phone.
There you go. I really like my phone =)
~
Okay, just fyi, I'm already preparing my 111th post. Watch out for that next Tuesday (11/11/2008).
Take care, peeps!

Life is Wonderful
Why is life wonderful? Because I'm gonna ORD soon man.
But seriously, I was just listening to Jason Mraz's Life Is Wonderful so decided to name this post as that. His album is really good. Ask me for his songs.
Anyway, the reason why I've not updated for so long is because I'm reserving my 111th post (this is my 109th) for my ORD post on 11th November (11/11). Now you see? =D Alot of things have happened.
Russell's birthday happened. But lazy to blog. Just so you know I executed my first planned-treasure hunt quite successfully. The kids had fun. They were so eager to win there were arguments between them. Reminds me of my past with my cousins =x My voice went hoarse. But still, 'twas fun.
~
Ok, I'm sure you BPians should know I'm promoting the BPian Bear.
That's mine, thanks to Roxane. You can have yours for $10! So far fungi and sze wants. But now sch holildays so the students can't get for my cousin. Maybe have to go down to get leh.
Speaking of going down to BP, they are having an OFFICIAL MARCH-BACK TO THE NEW CAMPUS ON 2 JAN 2009 - 7:30AM. Go BP's website for full details!
'Cause of the BPian Bear's PE tee, I went to dig up some 'history'. Remember these?
Trip down memory lane: 401 Tissue (can you believe we came up with that name!?); Green House tee! (scratchy feel); Iciclez Tee (remember weifang flipped open a dictionary and picked the first word she saw); and the iciclez, inc logo designed by me!
I don't have a PE t-shirt =( anyone have??
~
Talking 'bout shirts, from my previous post I said I want to flea my stuff right? I've put up my shirts on http://www.singaporefleamarket.com/ le =) I don't know how to search for them but if you see under the seller name is 'Wilson from Yishun, Yishun' that's me! K, the site is quite useless. Maybe I should try eBay instead.
~
And my dad's blog is ready! Go to http://www.alberotech.blogspot.com/ or click the ACR Bag Pesticide Reducing picture on my sidebar to access. It's cool. Go check it out!
~
Lost money in mahjong!! Grr. Been losing lately. Don't know why. Anyway...
Britney's Womanizer shot from #96 to #1 in one week on the Billboard HOT100! That's cool. Go to my iTouch on my sidebar to listen. Or go youtube watch that video.
~
Ok, I'm rambling away. Quite tired. Hope to watch Tropic Thunder this thursday.
Take care, peeps!

I Want To Flea!
Uh-huh. I want to 'flea' my stuff. Anyone interested?
I got a bunch of clothes that I've worn (once or twice?) or never worn before and I want to sell them off at a cheap price (so I can get new ones that I actually want to wear!).
So far viv, jm and zhiwen have expressed interest. Nothing is concrete yet, though. Not found any on-location flea markets (will LIME's continue? Heard the magazine is officially stopping publication next month 'cause of bad business).
But I found this:
Shall explore it later.
Spent $ on berms on wednesday night @ Bugis. Tsktsk. But I like them =P
Yay went back to 记得吃 @ Bugis that night for some shiok desserts.
As usual, damn long queue. Went in the night some more. But of course, it was delicious. Shall try the other recommended ones next time.
~
Yay, driving is smoother now. I really can't wait to drive my dad's car! =x
Russell's birthday on saturday. Planning a Treasure Hunt for the kids. Quite fun.
(And that bloody-dreaded Guard on Sunday. Bleah)
Off + Leave next wed to fri. Woohoo!
Take care, peeps!

One More Month...
(Feel free to play around with my new iTouch player at the sidebar)
Yep, one more month. Freedom is coming but... the stress seems to be piling up!
But more on that later. Went to catch two movies this week. Makan-ed at Lot1, Central @ Clarke Quay, Kolo Mee and MOF @ Marina Square. PLUS a lot of presents to buy....... all these have put a BIG hole in my wallet. (Which is one stress)
Firstly, Painted Skin.
I give the movie:
Even though 3.5/5 is an above average rating, but honestly, I expected more. First thing, do not believe what the movie tagline says: "More than just a love story". Well, it is actually just a love story.
Although there are moments that border on eerie (the story is from Strange Tales of Liao Zhai afterall), but it is the love triangle between Chen Kun the general, Zhou Xun the Fox Demon and Zhao Wei the suffering wife that tugs at the heatstrings. This is actually the first movie this year that has effectively put a tear to my eyes.
FINAL SAY: Zhou Xun and Zhao Wei's heart-rending acting is the best reason to catch this supernatural/love story.
~
Secondly, 20th Century Boys aka 20世纪少年.
I give the movie:
[ WARNING: This movie is only PART 1 of a TRILOGY ]
Dang, I didn't know that. But besides that gripe, I think this Manga-turned-Mega Blockbuster does live up to its expectations of being the BIGGEST film in Japan this year.
In true Japanese creativity/craziness/quirkiness/brilliance, the plot unfolds and intrigues you so much that you won't really realise that one hour has past and all the movie did was characterization.
In a nutshell, a group of grown men discover that a worldwide virus attack is realising all the end-of-the-world prophecies that they wrote in a comic when they were young. And a masked stranger (see poster) named 'Friend' is orchestrating all these attacks with his own religious cult.
FINAL SAY: It's funny. It's scary. It's ironic. It's great. Shall wait patiently for the next two installments (or maybe I'll just go find the manga =x)
~
Okay, about my stress.
> There's driving (I need to complete at least 15 lessons before my TP which is on 5DEC!).
> I need to find work or I'll have zero income after I ORD!
> Really spending a lot lately. Driving fees too.
> Camp is still busy 'cos of audits!
But ok lah, just need to plan my time properly.
Growing up is not easy.
Today went to listen SMU's Symphonic Band @ Esplanade for free (Beautiful Sunday concert series) with Jiamin and Caijie. Fun, fun. So long never listen concert le. Shopped a bit later. But never spend $. Cannot, lah!
Ok, booking in soon. Thursday Friday off and leave, wohoo!
But Sunday guard. What the sh**.
Take care, peeps!

Stress of the Uni Girls
Firstly, remember to help me promote my mum's beauty room! The link is just below the tagboard. 50% OFF and $18 Facials still hold! =) EVERYONE is welcome.
Okay, been listening to the rants of uni-girls lately. You guys (I mean, gals) seem to be filled up to the brim with assignments, projects and all your what-nots. Makes me wonder what my uni-life will be like, man.
> Fungi had meetings till 11+ pm. And thank goodness for you, you're ending your night job.
> Jiamin has TONS of projects and meetings, not to mention last minute performances. Well, hope you can really gain your liberty soon =)
> SzeRn has to go library to borrow stuff for her work. Don't know when since I've stepped into one. (On a side note, you're welcome to enjoy the discount. My mom can handle all cases)
> Yanru is vexed with filming and stuff. But hope Mass Comm can be as interesting as you say. I'll find out for myself in a few months time.
> Elicia also complaining about her accountancy and Econs tests and projects. And we have to plan a Treasure Hunt for Russell on his birthday. Jia You.
> Dranice also has last minute surveys and stuff to do. Speaking of which, anyone interested in going out to ask people to do survey? Dranice and Co. will give you $1.50 per survey done, and $10 per location. Here's the catch: they need it by this friday. Contact me or her if you're interested!
> Yee Wen is trying to find time to meet Lamerz, plus all the usual uni stuff. Hang in there! Hope to meet up soon!
> Pei Jun has moved to 'Boon Lay Island'. Haha, hope you're taking care of yourself, girl!
> Shiying is in LAS VEGAS!! Oh man, didn't know it until I clicked on her blog (she's a 'Follower' of my blog, didn't know got such thing). I remember she was studying in a Nevada university here in S'pore but I didn't know she's there already. Take care, girl! Sin City is fun =)
...and the list goes on. Hang in there, girls. Your juniors (us, guys) will join you all very soon.
~
Went to catch The House Bunny on saturday. Oh man, it's damn funny. Anna Faris alone is the reason to watch this show.
I give the movie:
Full of dumb-blonde jokes and hilarious sight gags, this bunny is a comedy gem. If you find Anna Faris familiar, well, she was in all four installments of Scary Movie. But don't toss her off as a boobs-without-brains just yet. She was the one that came up with the movie's idea, and she also served as executive producer! Nice.
Just some trivia: An American Idol runner-up, Tom Hanks' son, Bruce Willis' daughter and Ashley Tisdale's sister all starred in this show. Watch it to spot them.
FINAL SAY: A blonde comedy with heart. Laugh your asses off =D
~
Had desserts at a street opposite Bugis Junction. The street is lined with such dessert stalls. I ate at 记得吃. I'm definitely going back there again to scour for more eats.
And, yay, finally installed Photoshop. Hur. Thanks Kim!
To all those flying off to Ex Wallaby, bon voyage! And..
Take care, peeps!

WoMaNiZeR
Yup, it's FINALLY HERE.
Britney Spears' latest single: WOMANIZER
From upcoming 6th album: Circus
I give it
It's catchy. It's dance-worthy. It's wicked. She's back.
~
I don't know why I'm so interested in Britney's comeback. Guess I've always been rooting for the underdog?
Anyway, had my first driving lesson today.
Sianz. These were my instructors' actual words:
"Every time you change gear I got heart attack you know."
LOL. It's because I'm too used to engaging the extremely stiff gear-stick of the army jeep tht's why! But seriously, he warned me to change my habits or he'll change an instructor for me =x
But it's quite fun, driving around Yio Chu Kang. Just need to change gear smoothly. Please remember that.
~
ARGH! 2 x Guard Duties this month, one tomorrow.
Nevermind, give it to them.
In the song of the great westlife (I read it on someone's nick): "We had joy, We had fun, I ORD in one month..."
=x
